“Debussy’s Prelude was framed by the supple solos of principal flutist Christina Jennings and reached almost goose-bump beauty at its peaks.”

Charles Ward, Houston Chronicle

“Jennings is an extraordinary musician, with facile technique, a soaring tone, and a natural sense of phrasing that is often absent from flute playing.”

American Record Guide

“Jennings has got what it takes: a distinctive voice, charisma and a pyrotechnic style that works magic on the ears.”

Houston Press

“She’s in that league of distinctive soloists and chamber players who can do everything. She’s got the talent. She’s got the elegance. She’s beautiful. She’s got it all!”

New Naxos CD : The Flute Music of George Rochberg

avaialble on amazon, itunes

The few pieces that George Rochberg wrote for flute are as bold and individualistic as anything in his oeuvre. His ability to compose in an astonishing variety of voices is clearly shown in the Caprice Variations, based on Paganini’s famous melody, in homage to composers from Bach to BartoĢk. Christina Jennings’ transcriptions challenge the player with dynamic, technical and stylistic extremes. Rochberg’s Ukiyo-e pieces are among his most beautiful and haunting works. Praised for her virtuoso technique and rich tone, flutist Christina Jennings is an acknowledged expert in Rochberg’s music.

‘HIGH WIRE ACTS: CHAMBER MUSIC BY LAURA ELISE SCHWENDINGER’
Brightmusic; Chicago Chamber Musicians; Duo 46; Christina Jennings, flutist; Greg Sauer, cellist; Katie Wolfe, violinist
(Centaur)
The chamber works grouped together on this captivating disc show off Laura Elise Schwendinger’s acute ear for unusual textures. In these works, scored for solo violin; nonet; violin and guitar; or a quintet of flute, piano and strings, she sketches musical short stories of somnambulant fragility and purpose. The color palette she draws from these modest forces is varied and expressive — and brilliantly rendered by a fine roster of performers. (Fonseca-Wollheim)
